A steep, unconventionally shaped roof with a custom internal gutter, fixed and solar-powered VELUX skylights, and stained black cedar cladding work by qualified builders.
A full reroof of this Herne Bay home in 0.55 BMT COLORCOTE® MagnaFlow corrugate, in Ebony. The roof has a very steep pitch and an unconventional shape.
The steep pitch made for difficult working conditions, and protecting the new roofing from scratches took extra care throughout. The unusual shape called for custom flashing details, and a complicated internal gutter section that ran into one of the upper-level sections needed a custom design.
We installed several fixed VELUX skylights and solar-powered opening VELUX skylights. Internal access to the skylights was almost three storeys up, so we set up internal scaffolding to install the opening units.
We coordinated the builders, plasterers and painters on the job. Qualified builders carried out the cedar weatherboard work, and getting the black stain to match the existing cladding took careful consideration.
We also replaced the spouting with black COLORSTEEL® spouting and Marley PVC downpipes, and installed gutter guards, as the property gets a lot of leaf debris.
It was a project we enjoyed: pulling together the custom flashing details so everything looks neat and symmetrical, and working through ideas for the roof's unusual shape.
